Sac Chapter CLSA Day in the Field-Sutter Buttes

We went up to the Sutter Buttes to recon some possible 19th Century government corners...

Here is Emerson Smith (started his business the year I was born) running compass and chain line (using a fiberglass tape).


Emerson again using a mysterious calculating device which requires no batteries!!!


We didn't find anything confirmed but I learned a few things. We did find a few possible BTs.

My car got smashed!!! :-(

and not the usual way.

The car was parked near Old Sacramento minding its own business when a horse spooked and ran down the street right over the top of my car...





The horse belongs to a horse & buggy operator for tourists, something spooked it and it bolted. Fortunately, the horse will be fine, just needs some stitches.
